Safety Break Week
Brake safety week; August 23rd-29th. Why is it important and what solution is LionEight ELD offering as a prevention?
Properly functioning brake systems are crucial to safe operation, and that is why it is so important for all CMV drivers to be responsible and to maintain safety for all of us.
Brake Safety week is designed to improve commercial vehicle brake safety through way of two campaigns; first one will take place from August 23rd to the 29th, and the second one will be an unannounced one-day brake safety enforcement initiative, which can come at any day during the year. Both will include CMV inspectors going out on field and conducting brake system inspections on large trucks and buses in order to identify brake-system violations.
The reason is clear - The largest percentage of all out-of-service violations cited during roadside inspections are brake-related, to be more clear, it takes two football fields for a Commercial Motor Vehicle, moving 65mph, to come to a complete stop with properly functioning brakes.
LionEight ELD solution developed, among many more, a fault codes feature. With the fault code feature you will be able to detect any ongoing faults that should be resolved. It will reveal any issues by scanning all the engine control units and will alert the driver if any were found. This is a good way to prevent getting a ticket or causing an accident by immediately contacting your fleet manager.
Stay safe, keep the roads safe.
